Camp-Atthalin
Savigny-les-Beaune
This family domain is located in Savigny-lès-Beaune in the north-west of Beaune and has been settled there for more than 13 generations. Since 1962, the vines were leased to other winemakers and only in 2017 Jean-Philippe and Jean-Edouard Camp took the plots together to exploit their 5 ha. The cultivation of the vine is in organic and biodynamic conversion ! Ecocert and Demeter certifications will appear on the labels in 2020 vintage. Respecting the fauna and flora of each plot : no plowing, but light surface scratching to aerate the soil and prevent the grass from growing rapidly. The youngest vines are at least 28 years old ; the average age of vines is between 45 to 50 years old. The reds are 100% Pinot Noir. Whites are a blend of 50% Pinot Blanc and 50% Chardonnay. Plots are vinified and aged separately.
Sérafin
Gevrey-Chambertin
At the top of the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, just below the Cazetiers vineyard. Nowadays, the domain is run by the Christian Sérafin’s daughter, Karine, and and her cousine Frederique. Planted on 5.3ha of the communes Gevrey- Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Chambolle-Musigny, including 0.31ha of Charmes-Chambertin Grand cru, the domain has great plots located in 5 “premier cru” vineyards. The vineyard is composed of many old vines, grapes of low yield requiring patient and thoughtful breeding. Frédérique’s view of the 2017 vintage was succinct as she simply commented that “the growing season was easy and when we picked on the 5th September, we brought in normal yields of clean and ripe fruit with correct sugars and acidity. Because it was clean the fruit was easy to vinify. The wines of this point of their élevage are quite fresh and while they don’t have the power and densities of the ‘16s, they’re actually fresher and should be drunk well early.” Frédérique noted that, as usual to this point of the new wines’ development, nothing had been racked so some of them were understandably reduced.
